Adding prints

Summary

Add many new prints at once by dropping their files, add files to a print you already have, or make a colourway variant of a print. Files keep uploading in the background while you carry on working, and AI fills in the details of new prints from their first image.

How to

New prints

Use this to create several prints in one go.

  1. In the gallery, click New prints. You can also drop files, folders or ZIP files anywhere on the gallery.
  2. Add your files with Choose files or Choose a folder, or drop them into the window. Up to 50 files at a time.
    • Expected result: the files are grouped into prints by name. Each sub-folder becomes one print.
  3. Check the groups:
    • Change a name by typing in its box.
    • Move a file to another print, or to a print of its own, with the menu next to the file.
    • Click × next to a file or a print to leave it out.
  4. Admins choose the Designer. Everyone else is the designer of the prints they create.
  5. Click Create prints.
    • Expected result: the prints appear in the gallery straight away. Their files upload in the background; follow them in the upload box at the bottom right.

Colourways in file names, such as C1, C2 or CW3, become variants linked to the first print of the same name.

Names

Print names follow the house format CODE - NAME Cn, for example MA 4042 - TOILE VINE C1.

  • New prints get a tidy name from the file or folder name.
  • When a new print gets its first image, AI reads the design code in the artwork header (for example Design Code: AP1480 tropical leaves CW8). If the name doesn't contain that code yet, the print is renamed from the header, here to AP1480 - TROPICAL LEAVES C8.
  • Existing prints are never renamed automatically.
  • If another print by the same designer already has the same name, you see a warning. You can still create it.

Upload files

  1. Open the print and click Upload files. On a phone, it is under More. You can also drop files onto the print window.
  2. Choose one or more files.
    • Expected result: the files upload in the background and appear in Files when done.

Allowed files: JPG, PNG, WebP, TIFF, PSD, AI, EPS and PDF, up to 500 MB each. The first image becomes the cover. PDF, Illustrator and Photoshop files get a small preview picture, so you can see them without opening them.

What AI fills in

When a print gets its first image, AI looks at it and fills in the fields that are still empty: description, tags, colours, type, style, AOP or graphic, and category. It also checks the spelling of any text in the artwork. Fields that already have a value are never changed. The print then shows the AI badge until someone edits and saves it.

Add variant

  1. Open the print and click Add variant (under More on a phone).
  2. Enter the variant's name and click Create variant.
    • Expected result: a new print linked to this one opens. Season, designer, type, style, colours, tags, category and sale details are copied. Files are not copied; upload them to the new print.

Exceptions and Escalation

  • A file is too big or not allowed: the upload box shows the reason. Save the file as one of the allowed types, or under 500 MB.
  • An upload stops: click Retry in the upload box. Keep the browser tab open until uploads finish; the app asks before you close it.
  • No preview for an Illustrator file: the file was saved without PDF compatibility. Save it again in Illustrator with Create PDF Compatible File ticked.
  • AI didn't fill anything: open the print and use Fill with AI. If it still fails, contact IT.
