GL-OM-14 · Colour Assessment

Scope

Scope: Covers the colour vision test for everyone who performs colour check or fabric control: the test used, the pass score, how long a result stays valid, and where results are recorded.

Purpose: Makes sure colour decisions on lab dips, strike-offs and bulk fabric are made only by staff with proven colour vision. One test and one pass score apply to everyone.

Owner: QA owns this guideline, checks that staff hold a valid result and keeps the record.

Applies to: Applies to DMR, FT, QA, QC and any other staff who perform colour check or fabric control.

Requirements

1. R1 — QA — Make sure everyone who performs colour check or fabric control has taken the Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue test

2. R2 — QA — Accept a score of 16 or lower as a pass

   • The score is an error score, so a lower score is better.
   • One pass score applies to everyone. There is no separate score for fabric-control staff.

3. R3 — QA — Retest staff before their result expires

   • A score of 8 or lower stays valid for 2 years.
   • A score of 9 to 16 stays valid for 1 year.

4. R4 — QA — Retest QC staff every year, whatever their score

5. R5 — QA — Take anyone who scores above 16 off colour check and fabric control until they pass a retest

6. R6 — QA — Record every test result in the Munsell Hue Test Tracker
