SOP-OM-05 · Base Fabric Testing & Approval

Scope

Scope: Covers the testing, review, approval, and documentation of base fabric quality before bulk fabric production and commitments proceed.

Purpose: Ensures base fabric meets applicable customer quality, performance, and testing requirements before bulk production.

Owner: DMR owns and coordinates the base fabric testing and approval process, including vendor follow-up, report review, corrective actions, and approval tracking.

Applies to: Applies to DMR, Quality, FT, vendors/mills, and customers involved in fabric testing and approval activities within Pre-Production.

Process

1. DMR — Ensure supplier proceeds with base fabric testing as soon as the order is confirmed

   • Base test validity is generally 6 months, if the fabric quality is new then go with base testing if not previous test can be used.
   • Base test can be performed using available fabric, provided that the fabric has the correct quality, weight, and hand feel. The colour or print may differ from the production fabric.
   • The base fabric must follow the same production process as the bulk fabric. For example, if the fabric is solid, the base fabric must be solid or if the fabric is yarn-dyed, the base fabric must be yarn-dyed.

2. DMR — If vendor is new, send brand's testing manual and give a training regarding testing standards

3. DMR — Ensure base fabric tests to be finalised within in 3 days of order confirmation

4. DMR — Check and review the test reports and ensure necessary actions are taken on missing and failed tests and the flow is on track according to CP (See GL-OM-01 CP Management — R1)

5. DMR — Ensure three A4 copies of the base fabric form are prepared and sent to SpringNE

6. DMR — Once the base fabric and base test have been approved, mill can proceed with bulk fabric production

   • Test reports requiring customer approval must be checked and shared with the fabric tech team at the office before being sent to the customer.

7. DMR — Ensure base test reports are submitted in advance to Gold/Shipment Sample approval
