SOP-OM-01 · Buying Sample (BS) & First Fitting

Scope

Scope: Covers the preparation, review, and submission of Buying Samples and first-fit samples to establish the approved styling, block, measurements, and make standards.

Purpose: Ensures the style has an agreed fit and construction direction at an early stage before progressing through Pre-Production approvals.

Owner: DMR owns and coordinates the Buying Sample and First Fitting process, with technical and merchandising support as required.

Applies to: Applies to DMR, GT, PMR, and relevant vendors/factories involved in sample development and Pre-Production activities.

Process

  1. PMR — A BS is a development sample liked by the buyer used for range building and SO also is the first sample prepared for customer review, therefore these samples should be typically created using the customer's blocks, measurements, minimum make standards and must be fit-worthy

    • The fabric batch number must appear on all buying and development sample labels. (See GL-OM-02 Sampling Rules — R2, R3)
  2. GT — If the style is approved without changes, create Workbook (WB) and submit on the OC date

  3. PMR — Ensure customer provides fit comments within two days sending WB

  4. PMR — If the style is not approved as is, submit a first-fit sample with correct styling, blocks, measurements, and make standards

  5. PMR — If a new fabric is developed check test reports if there is not a valid test report then ask factory to start test process

    • Buying samples should be produced with approved base fabrics.
  6. DMR — If the style is not approved, submit the first fit sample with the correct styling, block, measurements and make standard within 2 days
